Great Happy Chinese New Year wish from Mail Art Martha.
It's the year of the horse, now. So note the fantastic rubber stamp print, also of the Horse!
Thank you very much, Mail Art Martha!
An other weird interesting Austalian animal is the Monitor Lizard (Varanus), a large reptile.
Here pictured by Valentine Mark Herman, who makes a lot of great dot-art, and sent me this from France.
And see the postage stamp, a new French stamp, about which you can find some more information on Hawwa's weblog. By the augmented picture on her website I learned to take a closer look to this stamp and learned that there's not only this La Poste woman, but also two playing children on the picture.
Thank you very much, Valentine, for your wonderful mail art!
Concerning the self portrait on the back, er, I'll reply to you by mail art :-)

These lovely animals were born thanks to an onion and a postage stamp.
On the back nice artistamps. And behold the famous Greek cat!
This must be mail art from Katerina Nikoltsou from Greece!
Thank you very much, Katerina, for these new contribution to the Real Weird Animals!

This beautiful Platypus was created by Valentine Mark Herman from France, or from the Aborigine Settlement in Sigean to be more precise.
I love this dotted Platypus and I love the turquoise surroundings. Thank you very much, Val!

An interesting parcel arrived in the Netherlands, all the way from China.
From an unknown sender!
Containing a present, which made me very Happy!
A beautiful fabric pen case, with a very friendly text, accompanied by two friendly vegetarian animals: the long-eared Rabbit, and the long-necked Giraffe.
Always 'in' for nice surprises. But also always too curious to know where my received mail comes from... Frustrating to not know that...
Wait... Look at my name above the address. How could the unknown sender know that I had a discussion about 'babbelaars' lately?
(About 'roomboterbabbelaars', even!) That could have been some Princess, or Peeee. Or accompanying Person.
Anyway, who-ever the generous sender is (Vizmaaaa!): Thank you very, very much!!

A Platypus from the land of the Platypus: Australia!
Thanks to Vizma Bruns we can learn the story of the Old Man Platypus...
.. and learn how to have a drink while being in a Fish Tank! (My bottle of course contains water, or coffee.)
(What happened to Marie?)
Nice stamps, even a Mailogram and an original Vizma Artistamp!
This Giant Lobster was on the smallest part of the mail:
And this is a piece of fabric which really asks for being added some more stitches to!
And last but not least: a great transparent dotted envelope, with on the stamp... an Echidna, yay!
Thank you very much, Vizma!

This beautiful Platypus swam to me thanks to Amy Irwen from the U.S.A.
And he/she is not alone, also a Pink Eared Duck - who has a funny bill, too - and Duckling accompanied this brave mammal.
Look at the fine pen lines! In real, the silver lines of the bill of this platypus are shining as if he/she is swimming in a silvery water. Beautiful! Thank you very much, Amy!
I love those pink German 'Entgelt bezahlt' postal things!
This beautiful added-to one I received from Roland Halbritter from Germany. Or is it from the WAO, the Weird Animal Organization?
Check the nice stamps: the famous Bunny, and a beautiful, however also poor, sparrow who apparently has little 'Durchfall' at the moment and who is warning us to not eat rotten food.
And check Roland Halbritter's great new blog, which shows portraits he painted of people at their birthday.
Vielen Dank, Roland!

Beautiful stitched artistamp, showing a Naked Mole Rat! A real funny animal. Family of the Damaraland Mole Rat.
Virtuosily created by Angela Behrendt from Germany. And sent by myself!?? - according to the text on the paper :-)
Look how kind the Letter Center of Hannover (the Briefzentrum of Hannover, part of the German Mail) has been! Not only they paid the postage ('Entgelt bezahlt'), but also they added a beautiful cancellation stamp of the city of Hannover.
Herzlichen Dank, Angela!
A flock of Bunnies entered my mailbox!
After coming out of the envelope, most of them seemed to be a little shy...
.. and ran back into the safe warm colourful house they had come out: the Envelope!
Weird, isn't it?
The envelope contained more beauties and has been created by Ruud Janssen (who has the same initials as the person who taught the world how to draw a bunny).
Thank you very much, hartelijk dank, Ruud!

Hurray, another Platypus!!!
Another beautiful creation, a sweet one, of this real weird and interesting creature, also known as Ornithorhynchus anatinus. Who succeeds in amazing me for more than 35 years already.
Made thanks to Onions, and above all thanks to (and by) Katerina Nikoltsou from Greece.
She also created these happily jumping Dolphins!
And here's the famous rubber stamp Blue Cat.
Amazing that all the animals in this post belong to the same 'class': Mammals.
Thank you very much, Katerina!
This beautiful Elephant, a mixed-media drawing/painting, has been created and sent from Australia by Chris James.
The present digital technologies at my place do not give me the opportunity to share the beautiful change of light which one can see when you hold this mail art in the sunlight.
So I tried to make a video to do this. It turned out to be a completely different movie from the one I had planned to make to show you the wonderful lights on Chris James' painting.
But anyhow, if you look well, you can see some twinkeling lights on Chris James' painting on this improvised video. And hear the beautiful music I decided to add, music I remembered while watching Chris James' mail art from all directions. You can hear and see it here, until the doorbell ('beep') rings for the second time and brings us back to the daily live again...
Be sure to check out Chris' website, Artists for the Environment.
Thank you very much, Chris!
