Nicole Eippers (8)

Another animal from the Treehopper's family: the larvae of an Anchistrotus.
And more Pigs and of course the Swallowtail on the stamp keep on being suitable animals for this mail art project, too!

Thank you very much, Nicole, for this amazing weird animal!

Eva (4)

As round as a Gouda cheese, almost all elements of this nice mail I received from Eva.
'La Hollandaise' means 'the Dutch woman', and aren't they weird, the Dutch? According to Mr. John Dowie they are, so this mail art is published here.

Both cows and goats offer milk to make cheese of. So do sheep (not on these pictures), and I always think it interesting to see how goats' and sheep's eyes' pupils are horizontal / oval - even rectangular if you look well.

Thanks a lot, Eva!

Thank you very much, XX Jones!

Nicole Eippers (7)

Wow, that's a clearly weird animal!
The Cladonota Benitezi is a member of the family of Membracidae, insects related to the cicadas and the leafhoppers.
Thank you very much, Nicole, for sending this weird animal which is new to me!

I found more pictures of these amazing creatures on this website, which says "Membracidae: Wonder of terrestrial biodiversity", but I'd rather say they seem to be extraterrestrial miracles!
This Benitez' treehopper is a cousin of the previously turned-into-Mail-Art Heteronotus delineatus.

Kerosene & Flypaper

'La Malaisie est en parte couverte de jungle' - Malaysia is partly covered with jungle.
'... not so long ago', Kerosene adds...
I think deforestation is such a shame and pity (and we all contribute to that, as long as we aren't aware of what we buy, and keep on buying). As biodiversity and all of our 'lungs' suffer from that highly. All rain forests who have gone, are gone for all our lifetimes... Protection and common sense needed!

Thank you so much, Kerosene, for this aware mail art!

Nicole Eippers (6)

Created and sent by Nicole Eippers from Belgium, this collage of the long-beaked echidna and a frightened human being (while there's no need for humans to be afraid - this special animal doesn't eat us, and even it's the other way round: this echidna is endangered by deforestation, caused by human beings..).

Note also the Red kite on the stamp and the (flying) pigs in the other corners.
Hartelijk dank, Nicole, voor dit bijzondere dier!

Nicole Eippers (5)

Ontvangen van Nicole Eippers uit België, deze prachtige Okapi envelop! Met natuurlijk het Nicole's typische varkentjes. En mensen en de rode wouw.

Received from Nicole Eippers from Belgium, this beautiful Okapi envelope! Also of course Nicole's typical pigs. And human beings and the Red kite.

En binnenin... De Blobvis, een diepzeevis die boven water als 'n plumpudding in elkaar zakt... En een Australische bergduivel (Moloch Horridus).

And inside... The Blobfish, a deep sea fish who - once outside of the water - drops like a plum pudding... And a thorny devil (Moloch Horridus).

Hartelijk dank, Nicole!

Carolyn Oord

What a big surprise! After having sent the very first contribution to the 'Solitude' mail art project, Carolyn Oord continued to make me happy by sending these eight weird mammals from Canada. Or even more animals (do I see moose or reindeer calves on the stamp? And a walking fish rubber stamp print!)!

Click on the image to enlarge. From left to right, you can see the Manatee, the Giant Anteater, the Tarsier, the Galago, the Kinkajou, the Aye-aye, the Bandicoot, and even predecessors of our present horse.

Thank you very much, Carolyn!

Nicole Eippers (4)

The axolotl is one of my favourite animals. I don't know whether this is because of the name, or because of his/her appearance, or probably both! As a child I had a picture of an axolotl in my animal encyclopedia, and years later, when I saw him/her in a zoo in real, I still thought this an intriguing creature.

Thanks to Nicole Eippers I now received this friendly Axolotl in my mailbox!
Together with, of course, Nicoles famous Flying Pig - Cochon Volant.

Nicole has an ongoing mail art project, see her blog Piggy One Mailart.

Hartelijk dank, merci beaucoup, Nicole, ik ben er blij mee!

Suus' snail mail weblog you can find here, more sent and received mail art by Suus in Mokum is here. More art - colour! - like the circles above, you can find here.

Hartstikke bedankt, Suus!
